Your RoleWe are on the lookout for a passionate and dedicated School Caretaker to help maintain our school premises. In this vital role, you will ensure our environment is clean, secure, and welcoming for our students and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
- Perform cleaning, handyperson tasks, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
- Supervise school cleaning staff to ensure high standards are met.
- Promote health and safety throughout the school.
- Handle porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
- Report any maintenance issues to the Head Teacher promptly.
- Manage small repairs and DIY projects effectively.
- Coordinate larger repairs and obtain quotes from contractors.
- Conduct daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking.
- Respond to emergency cleaning needs, such as gritting and spillages.
- Organize an annual deep clean of key areas within the school.
- Maintain cleaning tools and products, ensuring good stock levels.
- Act as the main key holder, ensuring the security of the premises.
- Lock and unlock the school as required, including out-of-hours.
- Conduct regular checks of security systems and report any issues.
- Advise the Head Teacher on security and safety matters.
- Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools.
- Previous caretaking experience in a school environment.
- Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
- Literacy and numeracy skills to support daily tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment with SEMH children.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
