We are seeking an experienced Inventory Control Specialist for our Columbus, Ohio facility. This role is integral to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our warehouse inventory, which is crucial for efficient logistics and operations. The Inventory Control Specialist will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory management, including cycle counting, discrepancy investigation, and maintaining accurate inventory records. You will work closely with warehouse associates, supervisors, and management to identify and resolve stock discrepancies, implement process improvements, and ensure optimal inventory levels. A strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures is essential. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Safety is a top priority, and you will be expected to adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies by analyzing data and performing root cause analysis.
- Maintain accurate inventory records within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Implement and improve inventory control procedures to minimize shrinkage and obsolescence.
- Monitor stock levels and report on inventory accuracy to management.
- Coordinate with receiving and shipping departments to ensure accurate flow of goods.
- Identify slow-moving or excess inventory and recommend disposition strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and proper handling of inventory, including appropriate PPE usage.
- Assist in developing and implementing warehouse optimization strategies for better logistics flow.
- Train other staff members on inventory control best practices and the importance of accurate data entry.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in inventory control or warehouse management.
- Proficiency in using WMS software and other inventory management tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to interpret data and generate reports.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and logistics principles.
- Understanding of safety procedures and the importance of PPE.
- Experience with lifting and moving inventory, following safety guidelines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
