Seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to join our logistics hub in Des Moines, Iowa. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of goods within our warehouse. Your expertise in operating forklifts will ensure that our supply chain operations run smoothly, contributing directly to our commitment to timely and accurate deliveries. This position requires a high level of responsibility, attention to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts to move, stack, load, and unload materials throughout the warehouse.
- Safely transport inventory from receiving to storage and from storage to shipping areas.
- Conduct pre-operation checks on forklifts and report any mechanical issues.
- Ensure all loads are stable and secure before transport.
- Follow all safety guidelines and company policies, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, free from obstructions.
- Assist with inventory management, including counting and organizing stock.
- Collaborate with other warehouse staff to meet operational targets.
- Understand and follow directions for order picking and staging.
- Contribute to a culture of safety and efficiency within the logistics team.
Qualifications:
- Certification and proven experience as a forklift operator.
- Demonstrated ability to operate various types of forklifts safely.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Strong spatial reasoning and hand-eye coordination.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must be willing to wear and properly use all required PPE.
- Understanding of basic logistics and inventory principles.
