We are seeking a meticulous Shipping Clerk to manage the outgoing flow of goods from our warehouse in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role is essential to our logistics operations, ensuring that all shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and safely. You will be responsible for preparing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring packages are ready for dispatch. A keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills are paramount for success in this position.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate shipping labels, bills of lading, and other required documentation.
- Verify outgoing shipments against orders to ensure accuracy in quantity and product type.
- Schedule and coordinate pickups with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, LTL).
- Package products securely for safe transit, using appropriate materials.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain organized records of all shipped items and related documentation.
- Operate shipping department equipment such as pallet jacks and potentially forklifts.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with receiving functions as needed, maintaining workflow.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the logistics team.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar administrative/warehouse role.
- Proficiency with shipping software and carrier portals.
- Strong understanding of shipping procedures and logistics.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to perform moderate lifting, up to 30 lbs.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Familiarity with safety procedures in a warehouse environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office Suite).
- High school diploma or GED required.
