Our Washington, D.C. distribution center is seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to join our logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating forklifts and other powered industrial trucks to move materials, load and unload trucks, and assist in various warehouse operations. Safety is our top priority, and adherence to all safety protocols and the correct use of PPE is mandatory. This is a critical position requiring skilled individuals to maintain efficient and safe material handling.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks safely and efficiently to move materials throughout the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper stacking and securing of goods.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas for storage, production, or shipment.
- Conduct daily inspections of forklifts and other equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Maintain accurate records of material movements and inventory.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and hazard communication.
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times while operating equipment.
- Assist with inventory control and cycle counts as needed.
- Follow proper lifting techniques and safe work practices.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification or license.
- Proven experience as a forklift operator in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety regulations and best practices.
- Knowledge of material handling principles.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to safety.
