Job Title: MRI Radiographer (Band 6) Department: Clinical Radiology Location: The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, Moorgate Road, Rotherham. S60 2UD Salary: £23.82 per hour Reports to: MRI Modality Lead Are you an experienced and motivated Radiographer with a passion for MRI? We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Band 6 MRI Radiographer to join our Cross-Sectional Imaging team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic MRI service that supports a wide range of clinical pathways, including cancer services, trauma, and complex diagnostic imaging. You will play a vital role in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care while producing high-quality diagnostic MRI examinations. The Role As a Band 6 MRI Radiographer, you will undertake a wide variety of specialist MRI examinations, working to a consistently high technical and professional standard. You will be accountable for your own practice, working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team within Clinical Radiology. You will be responsible for: Performing high-quality MRI examinations efficiently and competently. Adhering strictly to MRI Safety Policy and all relevant legislation. Ensuring patients are fully informed, able to consent, and supported throughout theirexamination. Communicating complex and sensitive information with empathy and professionalism. Managing your own workload effectively, including during out-of-hours and weekend rotations. Contributing to service improvement initiatives and workflow developments. Participating in quality assurance processes and maintaining accurate documentation across RIS, EPR, and PACS systems. The role requires participation in a 7-day rotational service and the ability to work flexibly to meet service demands. About You We are looking for a radiographer who is committed to delivering excellent patient care and maintaining the highest imaging standards. Essential requirements: Degree in Radiography (or equivalent qualification). HCPC registration. Postgraduate experience in MRI practice. Strong understanding of MRI safety and relevant legislation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organisational, analytical, and prioritisation skills. You will be confident working with a diverse patient group, including patients who may be distressed, critically unwell, living with cancer, or undergoing complex diagnostic pathways. Compassion, professionalism, and resilience are essential qualities for this role. You should also demonstrate: A commitment to continuous professional development. The ability to supervise and support students and less experienced staff. A proactive approach to audit, reflective practice, and service improvement. Strict adherence to infection prevention, health and safety, and safeguarding responsibilities. Working Environment The post involves working within a busy Clinical Radiology department using highly specialised and expensive MRI equipment. You will be required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods and participate in manual handling and direct patient care. The role may involve exposure to distressing situations and intimate examinations, requiring sensitivity and professionalism at all times.
