Company Description

Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projets are undertaking the design, build, and finance of the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description

The Interface and Coordination Engineer will be responsible of the Design and construction interfaces and related coordination with interfacing parties Should be aware about related standards.  
Able to resolve interfaces and possess good communication skills and be able to liaise with all internal and external interfacing parties. Should be able to review the Revit drawings and carry out coordination to resolve interfaces. with all stakeholders and ensure coordination with Civil, Architecture, RSSOM Systems and external interfacing parties. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Interface Manager in overseeing and coordinating all interface activities with RSSOM and external project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports related to Interface and Integration Management.
  • Coordinate effectively with the Construction Technical Office (CTO), BIM Coordinators, and multidisciplinary Design Teams.
  • Liaise with and facilitate mediation between system contractors, BIM teams, and both technical and construction personnel as required.
  • Assist project teams in responding to coordination comments on design documents and subcontractor shop drawings.
  • Identify and define all system-related interfaces, including interface identification and maintaining an accurate interface register.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for both design and construction phases, ensuring alignment and agreement with all subsystems.
  • Ensure interface consistency, completeness, and compliance by reviewing design and construction deliverables and participating actively in the requirements management process.
  • Manage and refine detailed interface definitions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify interface-related risks, scope gaps, and grey areas, escalating issues promptly when needed.
  • Review third-party design submissions to verify compliance with system and interface requirements.
  • Anticipate and resolve installation challenges during the development of design solutions.
  • Ensure all interface management processes and documentation align with contractual and project management system requirements.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the client and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update Interface Construction Control Documents (CCDs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and associated traceability frameworks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or a related technical discipline) required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of demonstrated experience in similar interface, systems integration, or coordination roles.
  • Strong background in interface management and construction coordination is essential.
  • Experience with change control processes is considered a strong asset.
  • Prior involvement in international projects, particularly within the railway sector, is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience supporting project completion, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with a structured approach and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled in report writing, group presentations, and facilitating technical discussions.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and perform under pressure in a fast‑paced project environment.
  • Hands-on expertise with international system assurance and system integration standards, with the capability to apply them effectively within complex engineering projects.
  • Broad understanding of railway systems, interfaces, and engineering practices, particularly at the system level.
  • Strong command of English (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, foster positive relationships, and promote a constructive team dynamic.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and familiarity with DOORS or similar requirements management tools.
