This is an hourly contract with Upwork Time Tracker required. We want full transparency on hours worked — no fixed-price bids, please.
The bigger picture — why this matters:
We're not looking for a one-off deployment. Here's the full scope:
Now: Deploy this first website (the current project — ~30 pages, bilingual, ready to go)
Soon after: A second, significantly larger website (different brand, same ownership) will need to be built and deployed on WordPress
Ongoing: Both websites will need regular maintenance, updates, and gradual improvements over time
We're looking for one reliable WordPress partner who can handle all of this — someone who gets to know our brands, understands our standards, and grows with us. This first project is your chance to show us how you work.
Communication matters to us:
We want someone who's easy to reach and comfortable with real-time collaboration. Whether it's a quick video call to walk through something together, a screen share to review a layout, or just responsive messaging — we want communication to be effortless. Small fixes and feedback rounds shouldn't turn into long back-and-forth threads. If something takes 2 minutes to explain on a call, let's just do the call.
About the current project:
~30 pages across two languages (English + Finnish), including a blog section (9 articles) and case studies (11 projects)
Clean vanilla JavaScript (responsive navigation, product gallery from JSON data, cookie consent, language switcher)
Fully responsive design with proper mobile navigation
SEO foundations in place (Open Graph, hreflang tags, canonical URLs, geo targeting)
Well-organized file structure with shared CSS and modular JS
No frameworks or build tools — straightforward HTML/CSS/JS
What we need for this project:
WordPress conversion & deployment — Transfer the existing HTML/CSS/JS site to a WordPress theme (custom theme or builder-based, open to your recommendation). Set up hosting, go live.
Quality review & improvements — As you work through the site, apply your expertise. If you spot UX issues, inconsistencies, or quick wins, we'd love your input and fixes.
SEO best practices — Ensure proper technical SEO setup in WordPress (meta tags, sitemaps, page speed, image optimization, schema markup where relevant).
Bilingual setup — Implement a proper multilingual solution (WPML, Polylang, or your recommendation) for the English/Finnish content.
Timeline: We'd like the site live by end of next week. The foundation is solid — this is primarily a deployment and WordPress setup task, not a design-from-scratch project.
Who we're looking for:
Based in Europe (required)
Available to start immediately
Responsive communicator — comfortable with video calls, screen sharing, and quick async messaging
Comfortable working hourly with Upwork Time Tracker — we value transparency
Strong WordPress development experience (custom themes or page builders like Elementor/Oxygen/Bricks)
Experience converting static HTML/CSS sites to WordPress
UX sensibility — you notice when something doesn't feel right and know how to fix it
SEO knowledge — technical SEO setup, page speed optimization, structured data
Attention to detail — the design is carefully crafted, and we need it preserved accurately
Good communication in English
Interested in a long-term partnership, not just a quick gig
Bonus: Experience with bilingual/multilingual WordPress sites
