Parish Specialist - Spanish Language

WHY DOES THIS POSITION EXIST IN CCO?

CCO's 10-year vision is to activate multiplying leaders toward the fulfillment of Jesus' Great Commission. One of the areas of growth for CCO is mission beyond the Campus, which is where Parish Specialists thrive We need someone familiar with CCOs mission, skilled in Intentional Accompaniment, and has the mindset of spiritual multiplication to expand CCO's reach. The Parish Specialist- Spanish Language will help lead CCO in building movements of Intentional Accompaniment in Spanish-speaking Catholic communities in North America and beyond. We seek to develop and empower movement builders to grow movements of Intentional Accompaniment that centre on CCO's charisms and approaches to mission.

We are looking for someone who has an understanding and love for the Spanish Language and context, is passionate about sharing the Gospel, and who wants to equip others to build multiplying movements toward the fulfillment of the Great Commission. 

WHAT DOES THIS POSITION DO FOR CCO? 

  • Enables CCO to support evangelization in Spanish-speaking community contexts through collecting data, assessing needs, proposing solutions and developing materials to ensure relevancy and accuracy of CCO's deliverables.
  • Development and Spanish translation of new and existing training and materials according to CCO methods and philosophy.
  • Strategically develops and grows parish partnerships, building multiplying movements of Intentional Accompaniment with a focus on Spanish-speaking communities in dioceses and parishes throughout North America and beyond.
  • Accompanies diocesan leaders to implement Intentional Accompaniment in their diocesan context.
  • Sees and Seizes opportunities to grow relationships with a focus on Spanish-speaking communities globally, increasing CCO's reach in sharing the Gospel and activating missionaries.
  • Openly communicates with the Parish Manager on needs, ideas and data findings to inform CCO Parish strategies.
  • Creates and executes 1-year plans for key projects and goals.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? 

Essential Requirements:

  • Must have strong written and spoken mastery of both the English and Spanish languages.
  • Must have demonstrated skill in utilizing CCO's methods and materials of evangelization (Faith studies, Intentional Accompaniment, Kerygma etc.).
  • Must have experience using CCO materials, methods and programs
  • Is an effective public speaker, able to deliver training content in Spanish.
  • All employees of CCO are required to participate in the mission of the New Evangelization within the Catholic Church and work toward the propagation of the Gospel. This includes taking the initiative to lead CCO Catholic Faith studies, share the kerygma (through tools like the Ultimate Relationship booklet), and/or participation in the evangelization efforts of CCO, including opportunities to participate in CCO Missions. 

Beneficial Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to grow multiplying movements of Intentional Accompaniment.
  • Have an awareness of the unique opportunities and challenges of Catholics within Spanish-speaking communities in a North American context.
  • Can recognize and characterize subtle cultural and language nuances within the context of Intentional Accompaniment and CCO's methods and materials.
  • Is passionate about  CCO's approach to parish & diocesan evangelization and Intentional Accompaniment.
  • Experience with remote or online accompaniment is an asset.
  • Ability to work across differing cultural contexts and build collaborative relationships quickly.
  • Entrepreneurial and agile in the ability to coach and redirect in real time.
  • Can create and manage complex strategic plans (within the 1-year timeframe) with minimal guidance.
  • English-to-Spanish translation experience is an asset.
  • Experience in complex project management is an asset.

  • As a Responsibility Level 3 position the starting annual salary is $54,200.28 and is based on a 40 hour work week. Salaries increase with years of experience.

DEPARTMENT: Formation

REPORTS TO: Parish Manager

CATEGORY: Missionary STPD Funded Staff

LOCATION: CCO National Headquarters in Ottawa

WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal Office Conditions with some/regular travel (ranging from a few days every month, to happening once every 2-3 months).
