We are recruiting for a number of Early Learning Facilitator Students. This position supports both the OAP Entry to School and EarlyON Child and Family Centre programs operated by Empower Simcoe. Using a child and family centred, collaborative approach to service delivery, this role prepares children with an ASD diagnosis to transition successfully to school. To support the child to experience success in a classroom environment by providing opportunities and teaching that build skills that optimize school success. To contribute to the development of an Integrated Individual Education and Family Service Plan that is reflective of the families' visions and goals and is inclusive of all Early Intervention partners working with the child. Working as part of a team, being responsible for the daily operation of our EarlyON Child and Family Centres and/or Satellite Centres. This includes providing age-appropriate programming for children age 0 - 6 and parent education, including workshops, information and developmental screening and resources.
This is a full-time position starting as soon as April 20, 2026, for approximately 4-5 months. This position works up to 37.5 hours biweekly with an hourly rate of pay of $21.43. Please note that this position is contingent upon funding approval through the Federal Government Canada Summer Jobs program.
Minimum requirements of this position include:
- Completion of secondary school and enrolled in post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education or related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with young children with an autism spectrum disorder, is preferred; mediator experience an asset.
- Current valid certificates in First Aid, CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (N.V.C.I) and medication dispensing or successful completion of a recognized pharmacology course.
- Current valid driver's licence and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment.
Overview of Duties (including, but not limited to):
- Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to implement delivery of the Entry to School program through the OAP
- Understanding and implementing How Does Learning Happen
- Setting up provocative learning environments and activities that promote learning through play
- Prepare a program plan that includes play and inquiry-based learning opportunities and acknowledges that all children are competent, capable of complex thinking, curious and rich in potential
- Planning individual and group-based activities that promote development across all developmental domains
- Assisting with targeted outreach opportunities designed for specific populations such as newcomers, teen parents, families experiencing income challenges, Grand families, families supported by child protection etc.;
- Providing information to programs and services in the community as appropriate and based on the family's needs and concerns
- Making recommendations in the method of program delivery
- Entering participant information, all data elements and recording borrowed resource materials on the database.
- Financial and data monitoring which shall include:
- Identifying program needs to the supervisor/manager in preparation of annual budget
- Ensuring monthly program statistics are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
