Job Title: Business Development Manager (Recruitment Services)
The Ideal Candidate:
You're a seasoned business development professional with a strong B2B sales track record and an established client network paired with practical recruitment exposure, either hands on recruiting experience or managing recruiters (agency, RPO, or in house). Not constrained by a one-size-fits-all pitch, you bring an innovative and solutions oriented approach to business development, seamlessly tailoring value propositions by ICP and buying stage.
With strong business acumen and charisma, you engage, present, and speak the language of business owners and executives, credibly translating their needs into a compelling product and service offering. You naturally build trust and foster relationships for long lasting business success.
Summary of the Role:
The Business Development Manager (Recruiting Services) will lead our market entry into British Columbia, leveraging your existing BC network, developing key relationships and securing early client wins that establish our foothold.
Championing our brand positioning, value proposition and go to market strategy, you will engage qualified owners and executives, lead initial meetings and presentations, and progress opportunities from discovery through proposal to closing signed agreement in collaboration with our co-founders. A typical week blends high intent outreach with remote collaboration, joining internal strategy sessions, sharing some friendly banter, brainstorming best practices, refining positioning, talk tracks, marketing materials based on market feedback.
Compensation:
Base salary: $60,000 Plus uncapped commissions.
On target earnings (OTE): $90,000 to $150,000, depending on performance.

Key Responsibilities:
Positioning & ICP Sharpening: Pressure-test our ICP and optimize our positioning in close collaboration with our co-founders. Gather market feedback, refine talk tracks, marketing materials, objection handling, and proof points specific to buyer personas while ensuring alignment with and exemplifying company brand and operational standards.
Qualification: Qualify leads and prospects against our ICP criteria across sales funnel stages and maximize the likelihood of client satisfaction, durable success, and profitability for both client and company.
Lead Generation: Build and refresh a targeted lead list through systematic sourcing across the most effective channels and data sources. network based referrals, online research, community and industry channels, and inbound interest. Identify the right decision makers, capture accurate contact details, and segment leads by ICP and source to outbound and reporting.
Outbound & Pipeline: Leverage your network, expertise and the company's collateral and go to market strategy to run targeted outbound, building a pipeline of qualified prospects, and progress them to discovery.
Discovery: Lead discovery calls and meetings with qualified prospects that surface their pain points paired with our compelling solutions and value proposition within our product and service offering.
Proposals & Closing: Own proposal creation, objection handling and commercial negotiation with qualified prospects in collaboration with our co-founders. Remove friction to signature, position our offering clearly and compellingly, and close signed agreements.
Account Manager Collaboration: Partner closely with our account managers to qualify opportunities, align on account strategy, and coordinate smooth handoffs from initial meetings into proposals and close. Manage client expectations against internal capacity and capabilities, ensure seamless knowledge transfer, and support our team after signing to ensure delivery aligns with what was sold.
Expectations:
Stakeholder-Facing Professionalism: Conduct all stakeholder video meetings and in business-appropriate attire, from a Professional Workspace or Home Office.
High Communication Standards: Deliver accurate and timely updates, prompt response times, follow-ups and ensure candidates, clients and stakeholders are informed and aligned.
CRM Logs: Maintain accurate activity logs, notes and next steps for all prospects and business development opportunities ensuring seamless insights, handoff and integration with our internal team.
Reporting: Track and report weekly pipeline and activity performance across lead generation, outbound, discovery, and closing. Share clear summaries of what is working, what is not, and the next actions required to hit targets.
Flexibility & Collaboration: As a startup in a dynamic phase, we may pivot tactics or evolve offerings. We expect flexibility, collaboration and comfort adapting with a solutions oriented approach as our dynamic startup grows and evolves.
Brand Representation & Professionalism: Represent our brand accurately and professionally to clients and contacts. This means understanding our values and offering thoroughly, adhering to ethical standards, and avoiding conflicts of interest. Manage relationships with a best-effort, good-faith approach to ensure smooth hand-offs, commercial success and maintain our reputation.
Knowledge Transfer: Collaborate with the Operations team to provide your evolving insights, tactics, and processes, enabling their creation and refinement of robust documentation including: SOPs, guidelines and workflows that support repeatable and scalable outcomes.
Virtual Meeting Recordings: Provide your reasonable consent to host and participate in recorded virtual meetings with our stakeholders when applicable for various business purposes. When you host a recorded meeting, ensure adherence to privacy laws, inform participants that the meeting will be recorded and obtain their explicit consent before starting the recording.
Requirements:
MANDATORY:
Business Development Track Record: Success originating and closing >30 client accounts for recruitment/staffing or adjacent B2B services, OR 3+ years successfully selling B2B products or services.
Professional Workspace or Home Office: You have or will soon have a dedicated, quiet, well-lit, and confidential workspace with reliable high-speed internet, a high-resolution webcam, and high-fidelity audio suitable for professional video calls. The background must be real and professional—no bedrooms, shared spaces, clutter, people, virtual backgrounds, or blur effects.
Contingency Recruitment Services: Has a track record selling contingency/success fee recruitment services where payment is earned only when a hire is made.
NICE TO HAVE:
Full-Cycle Recruiting Exposure: Management or hands-on experience across sourcing → screening → offer/close to speak credibly about timelines, risks, and ROI.
