We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Construction Coordinators to support a significant and major capital energy project in the Edmonton, Alberta area in the beginning April 2026.
This opportunity is suited for senior E&I professionals who have progressed through the trades and into leadership roles on large industrial capital projects. It requires someone who brings strong field execution credibility, understands the realities of brownfield environments, and can confidently own E&I coordination across construction and commissioning with minimal supervision. The E&I Construction Coordinator will oversee Electrical & Instrumentation scope from construction execution through commissioning, startup, and turnover to operations. This role bridges engineering, construction, commissioning, vendors, and operations to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedule and cost objectives.
This is a hands-on field leadership role within active construction and operating (brownfield) industrial environments.
You will be expected to:
Coordinate E&I scope across multidisciplinary teams
Monitor field progress and proactively address risks impacting cost or schedule
Review and redline drawings, manage deficiencies, and verify system readiness
Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, CSU/startup, and turnover activities
Ensure strict adherence to safety programs, QA/QC standards, codes, and regulatory requirements
Interface confidently with EPC contractors, owner teams, subcontractors, and craft groups
Provide clear and consistent updates to project leadership
Required Experience & CapabilityTo be considered, candidates must clearly demonstrate:
Experience & Background
15–30+ years of progressive Electrical & Instrumentation experience
Trade background as a Journeyman Electrician or Instrument Technician (Red Seal strongly preferred)
Progressive leadership experience through Foreman, Superintendent, Lead, E&I Coordinator, Construction Coordinator, or Commissioning roles
Direct involvement on large industrial capital projects ranging from $50MM to multi-billion-dollar scope
Ability to step into complex project environments with minimal ramp-up
Required to work M-F local to the Edmonton, Alberta Area is required
Background and Drivers check is required
Technical Execution
Strong hands-on and coordination experience with:
LV / MV / HV power distribution
Substations
Instrumentation & controls systems
DCS / SIS systems
Loop checks and Cause & Effect (C&E) testing
Electrical Heat Tracing (EHT)
Temporary power systems
Direct involvement in construction execution, pre-commissioning, commissioning, CSU/startup, and system turnover
Experience reviewing drawings, managing punch lists, and verifying readiness for operations
Execution & Leadership
Proven ability to coordinate E&I scope across engineering, construction, commissioning, vendors, and operations
Strong understanding of construction sequencing, schedule integration, and constraint management
Experience working with EPC contractors, owner teams, and multiple subcontractors
Demonstrated safety leadership in high-risk E&I environments
Experience enforcing QA/QC standards and regulatory compliance
Field-credible leadership presence capable of directing contractors and trades
Exposure to Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) or structured workface planning is considered an asset.
Industry BackgroundExperience within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical/Refining, Power Generation, Mining, or heavy industrial infrastructure environments will be highly regarded.
