Title Payroll Specialist Job Status Regular Full Time Position Overview

Responsibilities
The City's Finance & Economic Development department is looking for a regular full-time Payroll Specialist to join their team. In this position you will work within the Payroll team, providing assistance in the management of the City's payroll system, including identifying, analyzing and correcting time and pay related issues. You will also recommend solutions and business process improvements, participating in the testing of system functionalities, verifying accuracy of payroll results in accordance with bargaining rules, and reconciling and processing third party remittances.
Requirements
You will have strong analytical skills and a keen interest in payroll systems and technology. This position requires considerable independent judgement and initiative in planning and organizing the work to meet payroll deadlines, as well as resolving operational problems of a technical nature. You will possess considerable knowledge of the regulations, laws, rules and agreement provisions applicable to payroll operations, including employee benefits and entitlements. The Completion of Grade 12 is required, supplemented by the Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation and intermediate level accounting courses along with considerable related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Compensation
$39.14 to $46.07 per hour
(Pay Grade 22 – January 2024 rates)
Hours of Work
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
