Job Summary:
The Electrical Team Lead is a hands-on leader responsible for driving project delivery while developing a high-performing, accountable, and innovative team. This role oversees the full lifecycle of electrical products and solutions—from concept through development, enhancement, testing, and support—ensuring they meet performance, reliability, cost, and compliance standards.
In this role you will foster a culture of innovation and accountability, mentor and evaluate team members and champion continuous improvement. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to define technical needs, troubleshoot design challenges, and ensure quality through structured testing and risk management.
Key Accountabilities:
Team Leadership
- Exercise leadership and provide professional development and support to the electrical team
- Ensure the team structure and performance will deliver the short and long-term objectives of the organization.
Product Development and Technical Innovation
- Work with internal and external key stakeholders to define specifications and scope of requirements for related projects and solutions
- Identify opportunities for improvement/enhancement to current product design
- Lead/participate with failure/RCA investigations
- Design and deliver timely, cost-effective solutions with a focus on functionality and reliability supported by comprehensive testing and validation practices
- Specify, procure, and evaluate new components or technology to be applied or integrated into existing products and solutions
- Collect, analyze, interpret, and present field and bench testing data
Cross-Functional Collaboration - Technical/Customer Support
- Provide technical support to both internal and external customers (eg training and troubleshooting)
- Support the sales and life cycle of BlueSpark product and solution offerings in collaboration with all levels and departments to capture user needs, identify challenges, and implement improvements
Documentation, Compliance & Industry Engagement
- Create, review, revise and maintain all required documentation, specifications, and schematics to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality management systems (QMS)
- Develop and maintain technical knowledge by monitoring relevant and emerging technologies and trends and through participation in key industry events/conferences/committees
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Power Electronics; registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng. with APEGA
- A minimum of 10+ years' experience as Pulsed Power or Power Electronics Engineer
- Experience with the design and development for the downhole environment and Pulsed power / High Voltage environment is an asset.
- Strong understanding of power converter topologies.
- Knowledge of EMI mitigation, grounding strategy, and PCB layout principles.
- Familiarity with power control algorithms and microcontrollers/DSPs.
- Experience in high-voltage systems (kV–MV), fast transients, and extreme dI/dt/dV/dt environments.
- Knowledge of pulsed power components: spark gaps, thyratrons, ignitrons, solid-state switches.
- Strong background in insulation coordination and dielectric materials.
- Simulation skills in SPICE, MATLAB, CST, PLECS, PSIM COMSOL, or equivalent.
- Experience with fast electrical diagnostics and data acquisition.
- Python development skills are an asset
- Working knowledge of relevant Federal and Industry Regulations, Codes and Standards (IEEE, ANSI, CSA, NEC, etc.)

- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, able to present ideas and influence across all levels of an organization
- Ability to pass Pre-Employment screening requirements as well as acquire and maintain eligibility for International travel
- Intermediate + level competence in various technical platforms including Microsoft programs and collaborative team technologies and platforms (Office 365, SharePoint, Zoom)
