Purpose of the position

Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, the Raw Materials Buyer plays a key role in maintaining the continuity and efficiency of manufacturing operations. He/She must ensure optimal material procurement by meeting the required standards of quality, cost, and delivery timelines needed to support production. This role involves identifying internal needs, selecting reliable suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, and resolving issues related to deliveries or material compliance, ensuring that the company’s productivity is never slowed down.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, validate, and support the processing of purchasing requirements by recommending the appropriate strategy to solve the equation of on-time delivery, cost, and supplier capacity for molding/foundry processes;
  • Ensure and support the follow‑up of purchase orders to be placed, deliveries, and the profitability of assigned programs;
  • Play a key support role for the operations team when facing supplier on‑time delivery issues;
  • Inform various departments of any issues related to deliveries under your responsibility and propose action plans;
  • Negotiate requirements/parameters and ensure follow‑up of parts within your procurement scope to secure needs;
  • Validate that procurement parameters and purchase order archiving are carried out according to internal procedures;
  • Establish and maintain trusting relationships with key suppliers;
  • Perform any other related tasks

Job Requirements

Educational requirements

  • DEC in administration, management, procurement, logistics, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in administration, management, business, supply chain, or operations.

Technical Skills

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in purchasing raw materials in the aerospace industry;
  • Hands‑on purchasing experience in a technical manufacturing environment;
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills;
  • Strong negotiation skills and good learning ability;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience with an MRP/ERP system is preferred (EPICOR – an asset);
  • Bilingual French and English (spoken and written) is required;
  • (The role requires the use of English to communicate with suppliers, customers, auditors, and international subsidiaries)
