About Our SchoolLocated in Burnley, our school caters to up to 48 pupils aged 5 to 18 with a range of complex needs. Your Role and ResponsibilitiesAs a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment for our students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Keeping the school premises clean, safe, and secure, including the building and grounds.
- Performing cleaning, handy person activities, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
- Supervising school cleaning staff and promoting health and safety.
- Managing porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
- Reporting any maintenance issues to the Head Teacher.
- Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors.
- Conducting daily cleaning and emergency cleaning duties.
- Maintaining security as the main key holder, including locking and unlocking the premises.
- Conducting regular checks of security systems and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Providing safe access to the school during cold weather conditions.
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Previous property maintenance or caretaking experience, preferably in a school environment.
- Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
- A solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- A willingness to work with SEMH children.
- A valid UK Driving License and access to your own transport.
- A readiness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, with costs covered by us.
