We are looking for a dedicated Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In this role, you will be the lynchpin of our outbound operations, ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include preparing shipping labels, coordinating with carriers, verifying order details, and ensuring packages are properly secured for transit. A keen eye for detail and excellent organizational skills are essential for success in this position. You will work closely with the warehouse team to maintain a smooth workflow and meet delivery deadlines. Our commitment to safety means providing ongoing training and ensuring all team members are equipped with the necessary PPE.
Responsibilities:
- Generate and affix shipping labels to outgoing packages.
- Verify order accuracy against shipping documents.
- Schedule pickups with various shipping carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, USPS).
- Prepare bills of lading and other shipping documentation.
- Ensure all shipments are packaged securely and meet carrier requirements.
- Communicate with customers and internal departments regarding shipment status.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and logs.
- Assist in resolving shipping discrepancies or issues.
- Operate scanning equipment for tracking purposes.
- Must be able to handle lifting of packages up to 40 pounds.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or administrative support is a strong asset.
- Proficiency with computer systems, including shipping software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and the use of PPE.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented and methodical approach to tasks.
