We are hiring a Shipping Clerk for our Virginia Beach, Virginia location. This critical role ensures that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately and efficiently, playing a key part in our logistics operations. You will be responsible for preparing documentation, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring that packages are ready for dispatch. Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping labels, bills of lading, and other necessary documentation.
- Verify shipment contents against order details for accuracy.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and track deliveries.
- Package items securely for shipment, ensuring protection against damage.
- Operate shipping software and computer systems to manage outgoing orders.
- Maintain an organized shipping area, ensuring clear access and Safety.
- Conduct final checks of outgoing shipments before carrier pickup.
- Adhere to all company Safety policies and procedures.
- Utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during all shipping activities.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams (e.g., warehouse, customer service) and external partners.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping, receiving, or logistics role is preferred.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and shipping software.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and packing.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including some Lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Understanding of warehouse Safety practices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be willing to wear required PPE.
- Familiarity with various shipping carriers and their requirements.
