Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)
Responsible for the design of CBTC components like racks, sub-racks, wayside enclosures, COTS integration, to meet the applicable railway CENELEC and AREMA mechanical and environmental standards.
Key Accountabilities:
Perform mechanical design using tools like CREO, Solid Edge.
Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes.
Implement practices to mitigate corrosion risks.
Perform mechanical and thermal simulations using industry standard tools like ANSYS, CREO Advanced Simulation, Flotherm and IcePak.
Perform vibration analysis including PSD plots.
Write and link requirements using appropriate management tools such as DOORs and Polarion.
Responsible for working harmoniously in a team environment while maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the job and in relations with others.
Develop junior team members of the department by training and assisting, as required.
Key Requirements:
5 to 10 years of experience in a high reliability environment.
Excellent knowledge of mechanical design using tools like CREO, Solid Edge.
Very good knowledge of mechanical and thermal simulations using industry standard tools like ANSYS, CREO Advanced Simulation, IcePak.
Very good knowledge of EMC control (Cabling, Grounding techniques, gasketing, cable passthroughs etc.).
Very good knowledge of mechanical material properties including fatigue failure.
Very good knowledge of ingress protection for enclosures and familiarity with different ratings such as IP and NEMA.
Familiarity with Validation and Verification testing, especially thermal and vibration testing.
Well-developed verbal skills to allow clear communication without ambiguity.
Well-developed writing skills to allow documents, work packages, etc., to be prepared in a clear and concise format with sufficient information so that further clarification is not required.
The ability to follow directions and work instructions, and to use good judgment in the performance of assigned work.
The ability to effectively present pros and cons for various courses of action.
Keeping track of progress on all assigned tasks.
Verifying that all assigned work has been completed accurately.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or equivalent combination of post-secondary diplomas and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in the Railway Signaling industry working with international standards.
Excellent knowledge of mechanical design using tools like CREO, Solid Edge.
Excellent knowledge of mechanical and thermal simulations using industry standard tools like ANSYS, CREO Advanced Simulation, IcePak.
In-depth knowledge of shock and vibration principles that impact mechanical designs, including an understanding of fatigue and crack propagation.
Proven track record in performing failure analysis and assessing or providing proposed improvements to the existing design.
Devising and running tests to verify equipment functionality, to verify simulations, and for identifying and solving problems.
Proficient in using vibration and thermal measurement tools in labs and at sites.
Knowledgeable in corrosion mitigation methods and having a good understanding of galvanic corrosion.
Reviewing any applicable specifications, standards, rules, contracts, etc., for design requirements and ensuring designs are compliant with all requirements.
Proficient in skills and current with the technology of the discipline.

Total Compensation Range (Base Salary + Annual Incentive plan) : $99,825 - $141,004
