THE OPPORTUNITY
We have an excellent opportunity for an Accounting Manager to join Black Cat Wear Parts in Edmonton, supporting its global manufacturing and distribution operations. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will provide operational oversight of the accounting function and direct supervision to accounting team members. The Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, overseeing inventory reconciliations, and conducting statutory reporting, while contributing to cost accounting activities. The Accounting Manager will also work within the organization's ERP systems, supporting ongoing system transition initiatives and related financial process requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Team Oversight
Oversees and supports the daily operations of the accounting function and its activities.
Provides direct supervision to accounting team members and oversees daily workflow.
Works collaboratively with the accounting team and various cross-functional departments to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
Applies expertise in designated areas to support the business.
Financial Operations & Reporting
Maintains accounting policies & procedures.
Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
Prepares bank reconciliations, files GST, conducts month-end and year-end closing entries, and conducts statutory reporting.
Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Maintains and balances accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.
Summarizes financial status by collecting and analyzing information; prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and monthly corporate financial reporting.
Generates and submits weekly reports to financial institutions.
Evaluates, assesses, and controls risk.
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
Prepares inventory reconciliations.
Supports cost accounting and inventory control within a manufacturing environment.
Supports multi-entity and multi-currency accounting operations.
ERP & Systems
Works within ERP systems, including Microsoft NAV and Epicor Kinetic.
Supports the transition to and implementation of the new ERP system.
Develops and maintains systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information.
Risk & Compliance
Supports external audit processes and works with external advisors to facilitate reporting requirements and ensure compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
CPA designation required.
Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including people leadership responsibilities.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and concepts, as well as internal controls.
Demonstrated background in cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting within a manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience working within ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft NAV, Epicor or similar).
Exposure to ERP system implementation or transition initiatives considered an asset.
Experience overseeing or supporting accounting operations in a multi-company and multi-currency environment.
Knowledge of statutory, financial institution, and regulatory reporting requirements.
Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
