We are seeking a high-performing Senior Accountant / Assistant Accounting Manager to join our growing manufacturing company in Burlington, Ontario. This role is ideal for a CPA-designated professional (or CPA candidate close to completion) who is looking to step into a leadership-track position.
This is a hands-on role with exposure to financial reporting, cost accounting, inventory management, and operational analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and play a key role in strengthening financial processes and supporting strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Prepare and review financial statements and working paper files
Perform detailed inventory reconciliations and cost variance analysis
Support standard costing and manufacturing overhead allocation
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Oversee AP, AR, and payroll review processes
Coordinate with external accountants on year-end review and corporate tax filings
Prepare and review HST returns and other regulatory filings
Optimize ERP system usage (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar)
Improve internal controls and streamline accounting workflows
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA designation preferred (or actively pursuing, near completion)
4–6 years of progressive accounting experience
Manufacturing and cost accounting experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of inventory management and financial reporting
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar)
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Leadership potential and initiative
Compensation
Salary range: $90,000 – $105,000 per year, depending on experience and CPA status
