Über
Surepoint is seeking a detail-oriented Compression Estimator to join our team This role is a great career opportunity for someone with experience in compression parts or mechanical services.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end preparation of accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates. This involves analyzing supplier quotes, evaluating labor and material requirements, and collaborating across departments to ensure our bid packages align with customer operating conditions and company profitability.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review full-cost estimate packages, including labor, materials, and equipment. Analyze RFQs and RFIs to determine the best-value solutions for customer-specific applications.
- Evaluate indirect costs and contingencies. Participate in bid strategy discussions and conduct post-project analyses to drive continuous improvement.
- Take the lead on developing and managing quoting tools and systems. Maintain the Quote Log (Smartsheet) and Estimating Dashboard to track KPIs.
- Present quotes to internal stakeholders and clients, providing ongoing technical support to the Parts department.
- Maintain meticulous records of working documents and back-up figures. Manage change notices on awarded projects and assist with prequalification submissions.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Mechanic/Parts Technician status, technical trade certificate, or a relevant Technical Diploma.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical/parts roles or industrial estimating.
- High aptitude for learning and integrating new technologies; experience with Great Plains or Smartsheet is a significant asset.
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) for data modeling and cost analysis.
- Highly meticulous with a focus on quality, accuracy, and results-oriented problem-solving.
- Exceptional verbal and written skills; comfortable building relationships with all levels of the organization and external suppliers and clients.
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively under pressure in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adjust to changing project scopes or flexible work schedules.
- Valid driver's license as the ability to travel may be required.
