About Our TeamAs part of the Technology & Operations team at WBD, you will be at the forefront of building and maintaining world-class media technology and IT systems. Our mission is to ensure that WBD’s products reach audiences across various platforms, from pay-TV to online services.
Your New RoleWe are looking for an Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Distribution Engineering, you will play a crucial role in:
- Monitoring WBD’s global television distribution infrastructure.
- Supporting our Live Events output.
- Staying calm and focused under pressure while developing your technical skills.
In this exciting position, you will:
- Monitor all of WB Discovery’s channels.
- Manage transmission systems during normal and emergency conditions.
- Respond to affiliate inquiries and maintain ongoing communication with customers.
- Serve as a liaison between support teams and customers.
- Initiate critical outage situations and manage incident tickets.
- Liaise with third-party providers during fault investigations.
- Provide input and reports on transmission system reliability.
- Proactively identify risks in our distribution infrastructure.
- Assist in training and developing Distribution Staff Members.
- Create and update documentation and procedures.
- Implement changes to distribution infrastructure.
- Identify new monitoring needs.
- Perform other duties as required.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Previous experience in a broadcast, media, or telecommunications environment.
- In-depth knowledge of television distribution systems and standards.
- Working knowledge of digital signals and TCP/IP network concepts.
- Experience with SMPTE 2110 and Television Distribution Systems.
- Ability to operate test and analysis equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for signal quality issues.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work overnight, weekends, and holidays as needed.
