Senior Radiation Physicist

Salary: Competitive

• Conducting radiological safety assessments to ensure compliance and safety.
• Assessing radiation damage risk to electronics, safeguarding vital systems.
• Developing and deploying cutting-edge radiation detection systems.
• Completing the systems engineering design of the secondary shielding system.
• Running and analyzing point kernel and Monte Carlo calculations.
• Providing technical advice on the impact of changes and defects across the entire vessel.
• Developing ALARP justifications to support design decisions.

• A degree in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Nuclear Science, or a related field.
• Demonstrable knowledge/experience in radiation physics, nuclear engineering, or nuclear safety.
• Experience with radiological safety assessments and ALARP justifications.
• Familiarity with radiation transport methods (e.g., ATTILLA, MCBEND, MCNP).

Our team is at the forefront of designing and validating radiation shielding for the UK’s nuclear-powered submarine fleet. We engage across various submarine programs, contributing to design changes, conducting radiation metrology during commissioning, and developing innovative radiation detectors.
