Our busy distribution center in Chicago, Illinois is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Receiving Clerk to join our logistics team. As a Receiving Clerk, you will be instrumental in the initial processing of all incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy and efficiency from the moment goods arrive. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to upholding our high standards of safety and operational excellence. You will be responsible for verifying quantities, inspecting for damage, and accurately documenting all received items against purchase orders. This position is crucial for maintaining inventory control and ensuring that our supply chain runs smoothly. The ideal candidate will be proactive, able to work independently as well as part of a team, and comfortable in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus. We provide all necessary PPE to ensure your safety. Attention to detail is paramount, and a strong work ethic is expected. Responsibilities include unloading trucks, checking packing slips against purchase orders, identifying discrepancies, and reporting any damages. Proper handling and storage of incoming goods are also key functions of this role. Commitment to following all safety protocols is mandatory. Successful candidates will contribute to the overall efficiency and accuracy of our receiving operations.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.
- Verify goods received against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Document all receiving activities, including discrepancies and damages.
- Stage received goods for further processing or put-away.
- Maintain a clean and organized receiving area, adhering to safety guidelines.
- Operate material handling equipment as needed, following all safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with vendors and internal departments regarding shipment issues.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts as required.
- Contribute to a safe and efficient logistics operation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a receiving or warehouse role preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with WMS.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all guidelines.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
