We are seeking an experienced and certified Forklift Operator for our Chicago, Illinois distribution center. In this critical role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving materials within the warehouse, ensuring the smooth operation of our logistics. Your duties will include loading and unloading trucks, transporting goods to and from storage areas, and assisting with inventory management. A strong commitment to safety, including the proper use of PPE, is non-negotiable. We are looking for individuals who are highly reliable, possess excellent operational skills, and understand the importance of maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Your expertise is key to our operational success.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (various types) to move, stack, and transport materials within the warehouse.
- Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and containers.
- Transport raw materials and finished goods to designated production or storage areas.
- Conduct daily inspections of forklifts and report any defects or required maintenance.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory control and cycle counts.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with warehouse associates and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
- Follow all logistics procedures to optimize material handling.
- Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification and proven experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and material handling procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of safety practices in a warehouse setting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as needed.
