Job Summary:
We are seeking a meticulous Receiving Clerk to join our logistics team in Washington, D.C. As a Receiving Clerk, you will be the first point of contact for incoming shipments, responsible for accurately documenting, inspecting, and processing all goods that enter our facility. Your attention to detail and organizational skills are crucial to maintaining the integrity of our inventory and ensuring a smooth flow of materials into our warehouse. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving any discrepancies or damages. Responsibilities:
  • Unload incoming shipments from trucks and containers.
  • Inspect received goods for damage, accuracy, and completeness against purchase orders.
  • Document all received items accurately using the inventory system.
  • Identify and report any discrepancies, damages, or shortages.
  • Label received goods and prepare them for put-away.
  • Maintain a clean and organized receiving area.
  • Operate forklifts or pallet jacks as needed (training provided if necessary).
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including the use of PPE.
  • Follow proper lifting and material handling guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, carriers, and internal departments.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in receiving, warehouse operations, or logistics is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software or systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and inspection.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, and moving for extended periods.
  • Understanding of warehouse safety practices and procedures.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
