Our growing logistics operation in Washington, D.C., is looking for a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately and efficiently. This includes preparing shipping documentation, verifying package contents, coordinating with carriers, and managing shipment records. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to workplace safety. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process shipping labels, bills of lading, and other necessary documentation.
- Verify the accuracy of outgoing shipments against orders and packing lists.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers for pickup and delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and file necessary documents.
- Inspect packages for proper sealing and labeling before dispatch.
- Operate shipping equipment safely, such as scales and pallet jacks.
- Communicate with internal departments and external partners regarding shipment status.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure the proper use of PPE.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency and accuracy of our logistics department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in logistics or related field is a plus.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and basic computer applications.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Understanding of shipping regulations and best practices in logistics.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the correct use of PPE.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
