The primary objective of this role is to lead the strategic execution of all planogram design efforts, in‑store POG execution, and productivity analysis by planning, managing, and optimizing micro‑space through category and space management. The role also involves driving innovation that enhances space productivity in an efficient and highly creative manner.

Reporting to the Space Merchandising Manager, the Store Layout Planner is responsible for preparing and managing plans for all RONA Inc. banners. As part of their duties, they will be responsible for developing and maintaining layout plans that respect company and health & safety standards using design software, for both new and existing stores, as well as prototypes, special projects, or any other initiative supporting RONA Inc.’s commercial strategy. They will also be responsible for sequencing market deployment for all stores and corporate projects, conducting performance analyses, and providing available data to support space allocation decisions aligned with the strategic direction and store‑specific layout plans for all RONA Inc. banners.

Your Role :

  • Produce a complete set of plans, including electrical, construction, and demolition plans where applicable, to present the appropriate merchandising strategy for the targeted banner.

  • Provide all space allocation recommendations according to store linear footage.

  • Maintain the integrity of space planning for all stores across the different banners.

  • Act primarily in partnership with the Merchandising, Planogram, Planning/Execution, and Operations teams to provide data‑driven sequencing and support merchandising strategic direction.

  • Generate real‑time plan status updates in JDA and perform ongoing monitoring.

  • Serve as a point of contact, as needed, for affiliate project proposals and may be asked to work on a layout plan to support the project.

  • Drive continuous improvements to business processes and independently complete sub‑projects within a defined action plan.

  • Manage complex issues and escalate situations not previously encountered. Refer to documented processes and past experiences.

  • Understand and adapt established processes and project timelines.

  • Ensure all prototypes and change/project requests remain aligned and compliant.

  • Visit stores when required to physically validate merchandising or interior layout proposals.

  • Address identified issues immediately; engage other departments for assistance when needed. Provide support to other departments as required.

  • Foster a collaborative environment by working within a peer team to solve problems and share information with colleagues, managers, and clients when applicable.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Space Merchandising Manager.

The qualification we are looking for:
  • University degree, college diploma, and/or 3 to 5 years of equivalent professional experience in retail or a similar role.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoDesk, Revit, or similar design software (an asset).

  • Proficiency with Blue Yonder space management software (an asset).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English, and ability to support multiple teams.

  • Ability to work in a transforming environment.

  • Mastery of space management software (Blue Yonder).

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar software.

  • Ability to work functionally and deliver multiple projects while synthesizing large datasets.

  • Strong time‑management skills to ensure all activities and tasks are completed effectively and efficiently.

  • Ability to execute multiple plan designs under tight deadlines.

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
