Job Summary
The Physiotherapist will assess and administer treatment and carry out specific physiotherapy procedures upon referral by a physician. Maintain patient assessments, progress reports and statistical records. They will be ultimately responsible for providing quality care and maintaining departmental standards.
Key Accountabilities
To assess, plan, direct, review and evaluate patient treatment on the request of the referring physician.
To administer treatment and carry out specific physiotherapy procedures.
To maintain patient progress reports and statistical records.
To advise referring physician(s) with regards to physiotherapy assessment and progress in the treatment of patients.
To liaise with other healthcare disciplines and community agencies involved in the patient's care.
To participate in team conferences, presentations, educational seminars and other departmental, health centre and community programs.
Plan a client's discharge in conjunction with other team members or agencies.
Assure safe working practices and conditions through compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Assist in the maintenance of safe equipment.
Complies with patient safety programs, and processes including identifying and reporting adverse events/near misses
Attends and participates in appropriate safety training or education updates (ie. hand hygiene, emergency code reviews)
Identifies unsafe conditions or practices and takes appropriate action to address them including reporting or removing hazards
Report unusual occurrences and incidents promptly to the manager.
Special projects and other related duties as assigned by the Manager of the department.
The Physiotherapist will work in the Complex Continuing Care unit.
Assessment, development and implementation of a physiotherapy treatment plan for adults and older adults with orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, post surgical and complex medical needs
Contributes to a transparent culture of client and staff safety by adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures set by SJHC
Promotes an environment that encourages and supports change using change leadership theory
Qualifications & Experience
B.Sc. degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
Registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
Member in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
