Purpose
The Data Analyst student supports Grey County Long-Term Care (LTC) by transitioning existing paper-based quality improvement audits into fully digital, user-friendly tools. The role includes designing and implementing a system that collects completed audit data, organizes results and generates action plans to support compliance, quality, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with LTC leadership to understand data needs.
Convert existing paper-based quality improvement audits into digital, standardized, and user-friendly formats.
Develop a secure, centralized system for storing and managing completed audit data.
Create automated or semi-automated workflows that compile audit results into meaningful summaries.
Build a digital action-planning component that highlights non-compliance, flags risks and suggests corrective action fields.
Support development of dashboards or reports that visualize audit trends, risks, and improvement priorities.
Assist in creating digital templates for action plans, follow-up tracking and completion monitoring.
Support LTC team members in adopting digital audit workflows through demonstrations or training sessions.
Support additional quality and data-related initiatives.
Working Conditions
Usual hours of work are based on a 35-hour week. Additional time is required occasionally to meet the demands of peak periods, deadlines, meetings, emergencies and obligations of the position.
Work is subject to regular deadlines and is carried out in an office environment with frequent interruptions and extended periods of screen time. Some travel to other county sites is involved.

Stakeholders including other Long Term Care Homes
Knowledge and Skill
Enrollment in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or related field.
Strong Excel skills; experience with Power BI or similar tools.
Basic understanding of data modeling and data cleaning.
Experience with SQL is an asset.
Strong communication and analytical skills.
Ability to translate paper processes into digital equivalents
Use discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
Impact of Error
There is the potential harm to the public image through failure to exercise diplomacy when dealing with the public or government officials. Misuse of confidential information may result in a breach of Privacy laws, loss of confidence and credibility.
Errors on statistical information and/or reporting of information may result in incorrect information that could adversely affect staff and/or Council's decision.
Administrative delays or poor coordination of information for the department could result in inefficient operations, ineffective use of staff and the lack of information required to make the best decisions.
