What can you expect from this position?

Under the direction of the Associate Director, Terminal Infrastructure – Reliability, this role leads the end‑to‑end management of Aircraft Support Systems to ensure assets remain safe, reliable, compliant, and fully available to support airport operations. Responsible for the full asset lifecycle—from strategy and planning through maintenance, renewal, and disposal—the role drives optimal performance aligned with passenger experience, airline needs, and GTAA business objectives. It provides strong technical leadership to system specialists and the wider team, establishing best‑in‑class maintenance and reliability practices while ensuring timely, effective responses to equipment failures and operational disruptions, with a focus on rapid restoration of critical assets.

This position also contributes to long‑term asset strategy by assessing asset condition, lifecycle risks, performance data, and renewal requirements, while shaping capital investments within the LIFT program. By embedding core asset management principles—including lifecycle optimization, risk and criticality management, data‑driven decision‑making, financial stewardship, and continuous improvement—the role supports GTAA's operational, resilience, and business strategies, enabling a safe, reliable, and seamless passenger journey through Toronto Pearson.

As Manager, Aircraft Support Systems, you will:

  • Establish clear asset performance reporting for Aircraft Support Systems, including availability, reliability, condition, and lifecycle cost.
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance, backlog health, failure trends, and asset risk exposure.
  • Ensure accurate asset data, work history, failure coding, and lifecycle records within enterprise asset management systems.
  • Translate technical performance data into decision‑ready insights for senior leadership and capital planning teams.
  • Support governance, compliance, and audit requirements by maintaining high‑quality asset reporting standards.
  • Contribute asset performance and risk insights to operational reviews, readiness assessments, and executive forums.
  • Advance reporting maturity by developing predictive and risk‑based performance metrics.
  • Lead technical support across operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and asset renewal activities.
  • Develop asset strategies, maintenance plans, and reliability programs based on asset criticality and lifecycle stage.
  • Drive root cause analysis and reliability improvements for chronic failures and high‑risk assets.
  • Guide capital programs by providing technical input on asset design, selection, commissioning, and whole‑life cost considerations.
  • Embed operational, maintenance, and reliability requirements into project specifications, design reviews, FAT/SAT, and operational handovers.
  • Role‑model GTAA's Leadership Behaviours by driving collaboration, innovation, strong execution, and clear communication to support a high‑performing, future‑ready organization.

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • 5 years of progressive experience in maintenance, reliability, or asset management within a complex, safety‑critical, 24/7 operating environment.
  • 3 years of experience in people leadership, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, and leading teams through operational pressure and change.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, Capital, Finance, IT, vendors, and external partners, with clear communication of technical risk in business‑focused, executive‑ready language.
  • Deep understanding of airport or complex transportation systems, including aircraft support systems, supported by strategic, system‑level thinking that balances immediate operational needs with long‑term asset sustainability.
  • Robust asset management expertise, including ISO 55000 principles, lifecycle management, reliability engineering (MTBF, MTTR, RCA), risk‑based prioritization, KPI‑driven performance management, and data‑driven decision making using EAM systems.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including lifecycle cost optimization, OPEX/CAPEX planning, budgeting, forecasting, and vendor/contract performance management.
  • C of Q in Electrical or Mechanical (309A or 433A), IAM certificate or diploma, or CMRP designation preferred.
  • Post Secondary education in Electrical or Mechanical Systems.
  • Valid "G" Ontario Drivers License.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.

The GTAA is committed to Employment Equity and maintaining a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
