What You Will Do
We're looking for a highly skilled and service-oriented On-site IT Support Specialist to serve as the primary hands-on IT support resource for staff, public-facing systems, and visitor technology environments, while also supporting a national workforce of approximately 400 employees.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Serve as the on-site point of contact for IT support at the DUC head office.
Provide first-line and second-line support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, printers, phones, and audio-visual equipment
Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues in a timely and professional manner
Work closely with the centralized Help Desk to log, track, and resolve incidents and service requests
Support technology used in public spaces, exhibits, classrooms, presentation areas, and tour environments within the Wetland Discovery Centre
Assist with setup, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of public-facing displays, interactive systems, and presentation technology
Respond quickly to issues impacting visitor experience, tours, or scheduled programming
Assist with user account setup, access changes, and security administration under the direction of senior IT staff
Support Active Directory, Microsoft 365, endpoint security tools, and device management platforms
Assist with onboarding and offboarding of staff, including equipment setup and access provisioning
Assist with procurement, provisioning, deployment, and replacement of IT equipment
Track hardware assets, warranties, and maintenance contracts
Coordinate shipment, delivery, and recovery of equipment for staff as required
Assist senior IT staff with routine server, network, and system administration tasks
Support LAN and WAN connectivity.
Assist with telecom, voicemail, and conferencing systems
Participate in outage notifications, system maintenance communications, and documentation
Document common issues and resolutions in the IT knowledge base
Provide basic training and guidance to end users in a clear, non-technical manner
Promote good IT practices, security awareness, and responsible use of technology
Requirements
3 years of experience in an IT support, deskside, or help desk role, or a combination of IT support and customer service experience
Relevant diploma or degree in information technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Experience supporting Windows and macOS environments
Experience supporting printers, mobile devices, audio-visual systems, and conferencing tools
Proficiency in remote and on-site troubleshooting of desktop and laptop systems
Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and endpoint security tools
Ability to work comfortably in both office and public-facing environments
Occasional travel within Canada may be required
Additional hours may be required during critical project periods or organizational initiatives
Experience supporting public-facing or visitor environments is an asset
CompTIA A+ and or Network+ certifications are considered assets
