Description
Our client is a national mechanical engineering firm that specializes in designing HVAC and plumbing Mechanical design for commercial, healthcare, institutional, residential, and mixed-use high-rise projects.
Currently, they are seeking a Sr. Mechanical Designer for their Toronto office as they expand and grow. This firm offers progressive career opportunities, a relaxed work environment and a variety of exciting and challenging projects. Please note, this is not a hybrid role and will require 5 days in office at the Toronto office.
As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for designing mechanical HVAC and Plumbing systems for diverse new and renovation projects. Coordinate resources and ensure the successful completion of project design work.
Job Description
Lead the detailed design of various-sized projects and delegate specific tasks or scopes to other team members.
Supervise mechanical designers and intermediate mechanical designers.
Provide technical guidance to clients and other project sub-consultants.
Analyze client design proposals and specifications to determine the most appropriate and cost-effective design solutions.
Selection of mechanical equipment working with suppliers and manufacturers.
Preparation of schematic design, design development, and construction reports, specifications and drawings.
Maintain project schedules and project budgets.
Experience & Qualifications
Must have 5-10 years + specifically in HVAC and pumping projects for commercial, mulit-family residential, or industrial projects
A degree in Mechanical Engineering and PMP is an asset.
Detailed understanding of all building systems, including architectural, structural, civil, electrical and fire and how they impact and are impacted by the mechanical systems. Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Strong knowledge of current codes and standards such as the applicable plumbing and building codes.
Excellent written skills and understanding of software programs.
Ability to schedule, mentor and manage project teams of 1 to 3 people on 2 or more concurrent projects, depending on size and complexity.
