About the Role:
As the SAP Data Lead, you will guide a high-performing data team, refine and enforce data governance policies, collaborate with functional leaders on data-related processes, and act as the data advisor for all SAP initiatives. You will drive data conversion activities when integrating new businesses or channels, lead continuous improvement initiatives leveraging SAP S/4HANA capabilities, and ensure that SAP data is accurate, compliant, and fully optimized for business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and manage the data team, promoting accountability, ownership, and operational excellence.
Assess, refine, and develop data governance policies, standards, and operating procedures for SAP data objects.
Ensure enforcement of data governance policies across business units while fostering collaboration.
Define and implement best practices for data maintenance and quality, including decentralized data stewardship.
Lead SAP data conversion and migration activities, ensuring compliance with standard SAP methodologies.
Act as the primary point of contact for data issues, collaborating with Functional Leads, Business Process Owners, IT, and other stakeholders.
Establish, monitor, and report on team SLAs for data creation, edits, and deletions.
Educate the business on SAP data objects, data management practices, and governance requirements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data quality, efficiency, and system integration.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in Data Management, Master Data Management, or Data Warehousing.
Proven hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA, including SAP data objects, governance, and full-cycle implementations.
Experience leading data migration projects, including extraction, cleansing, transformation, validation, and cutover.
Strong knowledge of SAP data migration tools (Data Migration Cockpit – LTMC, SAP Data Services – BODS, LSMW, MYD) and SAP MDG.
Understanding of SAP S/4HANA modules such as MM, FICO, EWM, SCM, and Vistex.
Experience managing external contractors and offshore support teams.
SAP MDG or Data Management certification is a plus.
Experience in CPG, distribution, supply chain, or retail industries is preferred.
Advanced Excel, Visio, and Power BI skills are a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
Proven ability to audit, redesign, and improve data processes and quality.
