This is what you will do:
  • Global COGS & Inventory reporting: Prepare and review month-end and quarter-end deliverables, financial analysis, and commentary for inventory and COGS under IFRS; own half-year and year-end reporting inputs for Alexion Ireland and the consolidated RDU, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.

  • Technical accounting & policy: Determine appropriate accounting treatments for changes in facts and circumstances; track and assess policy changes impacting COGS and inventory.

  • Controls & SOX compliance: Operate and enhance the SOX framework for inventory; complete assigned control procedures and reviews for inventory; monitor control design effectiveness, assessing the impact of any updates to operations.

  • Oversight of Internal manufacturing: Deliver monthly variance insights (e.g., PPV, labour, overhead) and present to senior stakeholders, partnering effectively with FP&A peers.

  • Standard cost management: lead annual standard cost updates and revaluation; support ad hoc costing throughout the year.

  • Stakeholder partnership: Collaborate with Group Controllers, FP&A, Global Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams locally and globally; oversee outsourced provider to ensure accurate and timely close activities.

  • Balance sheet integrity & audits: Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items; own inputs for group and statutory audits across IFRS, FRS 102, and US GAAP.

  • Business enablement: Drive continuous improvement for the month-end close, embracing digital automation and AI; assist with ad hoc financial analysis and queries.

  • Launch readiness: Act as a financial steward for new product launches including integration across systems, accounting, and reporting.

  • Ad hoc projects: Oversee ad hoc project execution across business development, system integrations and global risk reviews.

You will need to have:

  • Professional qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA (or equivalent).

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification/industry experience.

  • Technical skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong numeracy and attention to detail.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to constructively challenge and critically assess assumptions.

What we would prefer you to have:

  • Manufacturing accounting experience and familiarity with internal manufacturing flows.

  • Standards knowledge: Understanding of US GAAP and IFRS.

  • Industry exposure: Experience in a multinational pharmaceutical environment.

  • Attributes: Natural curiosity and ability to learn quickly.
