What are your contributions to the team?
  • Monitor and review declarable chemical substances list under Aerospace/Defense environmental regulations in Canada, U.S., E.U., Asia and other countries (ex. REACH, EPA, PFAS etc.) that impact the use of chemicals in Bombardier products.
  • Perform screening and impact assessment of declarable chemical substances used by Bombardier and suppliers.
  • Evaluate impact of regulated substances on Bombardier design parts.
  • Support Bombardier representation in International Associations for the Environment in the field of materials and substance authorization, restriction and replacement technologies.
  • Support Environment Compliance Office for risk management and future R&D projects within the obsolescence roadmap.
  • Lead R&D projects, support redesigning activities and investigate materials & processes impacts triggered by new environmental regulations.
  • Perform tasks in a diversified range of Materials and Processes Engineering fields, such as non-metallics and chemical processes.
  • Lead material qualifications, support supplier changes, part non-conformity issues and production line requests.
  • Lead development of test plans, collaborate with internal and external laboratories, analyze results and prepare, review and approve test reports.
  • Prepare, review & approve Materials & Processes Specifications and manage associated Qualified Product Library changes.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, change documentation, and release documentation pursuant to technical engineering modifications/specifications.
How to thrive in this role?
  • You hold a Bachelor or Master degree in Chemical, Materials or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • You have a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in an aerospace production environment
  • You have practical knowledge of aerospace/defense related environmental regulations and substance reporting standards.
  • You have a practical knowledge of methodologies for substance presence in articles, complex products and substance mass calculations.
  • You have extensive knowledge of different chemical processes applicable to aluminum, steel, titanium structures (e.g. electroplating, chemical conversion coating, deoxidizing, anodizing, passivation etc.).
  • You are knowledgeable about military and/or aerospace industry standards such as MIL specs, Federal regulations, ASTM, ISO and SAE specifications.
  • You can coach and provide guidance to junior engineers and suppliers.
  • You are adept at solving engineering problems quickly and independently.
  • You are proactive, result oriented and have a strong sense of responsibility.
  • You must be able to work in a team environment and interact constantly with Senior Management, Professionals and Technicians from other value stream functions (Programs, Supply Chain, Methods, Quality, Suppliers etc.).
  • You recognize and respect differences in individual opinions while working towards meeting common objectives.
  • You have good spoken and written communication skills in both French and English.
  • You have good knowledge of MS Office, experience in Excel VBA programing and Power BI (an asset).
  • You have good knowledge of CATIA V5 and Engineering drawing interpretation.
