The role:
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to join the Project Management Office (PMO). This role offers leadership advancement and has the full support of the executive team and CEO.
Your main tasks will include:

  • Lead Saltworks' Quality Management System and team of internal and external Quality Inspectors.
  • Report risks and opportunities directly to the executive team, including areas for continuous improvement.
  • Quality assurance and control for third-party fabricated welded and fiberglass vessels,  structural assemblies, and specialty process equipment (e.g., pumps, heat exchangers, etc.).
  • Support internal Quality Assurance practices and contribute to the ongoing development and effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
  • Work with Engineering to develop, review, and refine technical specifications for new equipment, incorporating vendor feedback to balance quality, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key vendors.
  • Track supplier progress, identify risks, and support mitigation of supply‑related quality or delivery issues.
  • Identify and assess new suppliers, including cost, quality, and delivery evaluations to support supply base diversification.
  • Support contract negotiations, with attention to technical scope, quality requirements, and fair commercial terms.
  • Perform quality control activities for industrial equipment and welded structures, including inspections and review of manufacturing documentation.
  • Identify non‑conformances early and support timely corrective actions.
  • Communicate quality status, risks, and opportunities to Project Managers and the Director of Production to support project planning.
  • Contribute to mitigation planning when quality or supply risks are identified.
You will be a great fit if you have:
  • Degree or diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or a suitable quality control educational and professional background.
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control within an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably involving heavy equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • Quality Management System development and implementation
    • Training and developing relationships with quality inspectors
    • Detailed dimensional and surface finish inspections
    • Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
    • Welding and fabrication codes and standards including ASME, CSA, and AWS
    • Interpretation of regulatory requirements, industry codes, standards, and client specifications
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of contract terms and conditions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and thorough in inspections and defect identification.
  • Collaborative, solution‑focused approach to project delivery and issue resolution, both internally and with external partners.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for vendor visits and internationally as required.
  • Six Sigma training or certification is an asset.
