Overview
D&H Contractors is a fast-growing, Los Angeles-based general contracting firm specializing in high-end residential construction, including full home remodels, additions, ADUs, and custom construction.
We are seeking a highly detailed and reliable Construction Estimator / Takeoff Specialist to assist with quantity takeoffs and preliminary cost projections. The ideal candidate has experience estimating residential construction projects and understands the Los Angeles market, trade pricing, and construction methods.
This role has the potential to grow into a long-term, ongoing position as our company continues to expand.
Primary Responsibilities
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural and structural drawings
• Provide material quantity breakdowns including, but not limited to:
Framing lumber
Drywall
Flooring and tile
Exterior finishes
Roofing
Concrete and foundations
Doors and windows
Finish carpentry items
• Organize takeoffs in a clean, professional spreadsheet format
• Assist in preparing preliminary construction budgets and cost projections
• Help identify missing scope items or inconsistencies in drawings
• Assist in developing standardized estimating templates for our company
Bonus / Preferred (Highly Valuable)
Strong preference for candidates who can also:
• Provide budget projections based on Los Angeles trade pricing
• Assist in per-square-foot and per-trade cost estimating
• Identify realistic cost ranges for high-end residential construction in Los Angeles
• Help value engineer projects when needed
Project Types
Typical projects include:
• Full home remodels
• Home additions
• ADUs
• Kitchen and bathroom remodels
• High-end custom residential construction
Project sizes typically range from:
$100,000 to $2,000,000+
Required Qualifications
Must Have:
• Proven experience performing construction takeoffs
• Experience estimating residential construction projects
• Extremely detail-oriented and organized
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
• Strong communication skills
• Reliable and responsive
Strongly Preferred
• Experience with Los Angeles construction pricing
• Experience working with General Contractors
• Experience estimating high-end residential projects
Software Experience (Preferred)
Please indicate your experience with:

• Bluebeam
• Buildertrend
• Procore
• Excel / Google Sheets
(Open to other software if you have preferred tools)
