Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for efficiently and economically maintaining in good repair all mechanical, electrical, computer-aided and utility technologies used to manufacture, package, store and ship products at the Abbotsford Facilities.  This is to be accomplished utilizing continuous improvement strategies, keeping up with current and future technological developments but also develop sound relationships within the organization.

The schedule for this position is Tuesday – Saturday.

Available to support the facility within a 24/7 operations.

Salary Range : $88, $110,175.00

How you will make contributions that matter...

  • Leadership/coaching of maintenance personnel through pro-active communications, employee involvement, participation, individual feedback and appraisal.

  • Maintains a current knowledge of all sanitation, refrigeration, packaging and storage equipment, machines and devices used to produce, package, handle, store and ship products made at the Edmonton Facilities.

  • Establish, with the help of the Maintenance Manager, an annual maintenance plan and budget; Review revenues and costs relative to budget on a monthly; establishes further action plans.

  • Maintain a high standard of sanitation, housekeeping and cleanliness within the maintenance shop and related equipment areas within the facility.

  • Provides professional advice regarding the repair and maintenance of all machines and equipment.

  • Facilitate the timely and efficient packaging of fluid products.

  • Carries out preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.

  • Trouble shoots and repairs equipment in breakdown situations to ensure production efficiencies are achieved.

  • Provides training to maintenance & plant staff as required.

  • Works with all trades groups to complete project assignments. Coordinates with vendors & engineering as required.

  • Supervises electrical installations.

  • Ensures PLC programs are updated and current.

  • Develops appropriate schedules, manning and material requirements.

  • Ensuring the availability of the appropriate tools.

  • Maintain in good repair all production, packaging, storage, shipping and material handling equipment and machines as well as the physical plant.

  • Ensure that all work is performed safely, while following OH&S, WCB and Company regulations and procedures.

  • Other duties as required.

You are best suited for the role if you…

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in a supervisory or management role

  • Experience in a Preventive Maintenance Program, knowledge of CMMS software would be an asset

  • Experience in Parts Inventory

  • Experience in Cost Control

  • Experience in Sourcing Parts

  • Experience in Managing budget

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages

  • Knowledge and experience in SAP & Kronos are an asset

  • A broad understanding of computer-aided processing and packaging equipment

  • Excellent in diagnosing and problem solving and spatial relations ability

  • Food industry or high-speed packaging experience

  • PLC training and experience an asset

  • Excellent trouble shooting and analytical skills.

  • High level of self-motivation and initiative
