Our services are delivered across the Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) and Nottingham City Hospital campuses, alongside specialist facilities across the region. We are currently undertaking significant redevelopment across our sites and are building a brand-new 70-bed NHS rehabilitation facility at the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate near Loughborough, transforming rehabilitation provision in England. NUH is also home to Channel 4’s award-winning series 24 Hours in A&E, filmed within one of the country’s busiest emergency departments at QMC, showcasing the skill, dedication and compassion of our teams. This is an exciting time to join NUH as we continue our journey towards being outstanding in health outcomes and patient and staff experience. The Role We are seeking a motivated and experienced Band 6 MRI Radiographer to join our Specialist Clinical Services team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the MRI service while delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging and exceptional patient care. You will undertake a wide range of MRI examinations within departmental protocols, using advanced radiographic skills to produce high-quality diagnostic images. You will work autonomously while contributing to a supportive and collaborative team environment. Participation in the Band 6 rota is required, including out-of-hours and on-call duties to support service commitments. Key Responsibilities * Perform MRI examinations to a high technical and professional standard in line with departmental protocols. * Manipulate and manoeuvre equipment and patients safely to obtain optimal diagnostic images. * Ensure patient safety through thorough MRI safety screening and adherence to magnetic field safety procedures. * Undertake intravenous cannulation and contrast administration in accordance with Trust policies and Directorate protocols. * Triage imaging requests in line with Royal College of Radiologists guidelines and escalate concerns appropriately. * Communicate effectively with medical and nursing staff regarding the appropriateness of imaging procedures. * Explain procedures clearly to patients to facilitate understanding, consent and cooperation. * Supervise, support and advise less experienced radiographers within the team. * Assist in managing workflow and delegating tasks to maximise departmental efficiency. * Maintain accurate patient records using computerised and manual systems in line with Data Protection legislation. * Contribute proactively to clinical research imaging where required. About You We are looking for a dynamic and patient-focused radiographer who: * Is HCPC registered with substantial MRI experience. * Demonstrates strong clinical decision-making and leadership skills. * Has experience supervising or mentoring junior staff. * Shows excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Is committed to continuous professional development and service improvement. * Works collaboratively and upholds NUH values in daily practice. Experience in advanced MRI techniques and contrast administration is desirable
