We are seeking an experienced and driven Account Manager – Events to join our sales team. The Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact for clients organizing events with Marigolds and Onions and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of event planning, coordination, and execution. This role requires strong sales ability, exceptional organization, attention to detail, and the ability to lead on-site through set up, execution, and tear down for all events. This role is a replacement for a previously filled position.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong relationship-building skills, and is confident managing multiple events simultaneously while ensuring a high standard of service and execution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Account Managers are members of the Sales Team and report directly to the Sales Manager.
Work closely with Event Support to convert confirmed quotes into sales orders and issue menus to the kitchen.
Coordinate with Reception for specialty packaging requests, event signage, and staffing bookings through external agencies.
Serve as the exclusive contact for clients hosting events with Marigolds and Onions.
May serve as the primary contact for preferred venues.
Act as the main liaison between clients and third-party vendors providing rentals, décor, and additional event services.
Account Managers are ultimately responsible for the overall success of each event.
All conversions, staff bookings, rentals, and third-party arrangements are executed under the direction of the Account Manager.
Exercise professional judgment in selecting menus, staffing levels, rentals, and service elements that best meet client and venue expectations.
Ensure all planning milestones and operational deadlines are met in a timely and organized manner.
Sales & Client Development:
Conduct initial outreach and sales calls to develop new client and venue relationships.
Respond to incoming inquiries with detailed, creative, and comprehensive menus and quotes.
Build strong client relationships to convert inquiries into confirmed events.
Proposal & Order Management:
Prepare and submit quotes using existing ERP software.
Forward confirmed quotes to Event Support for processing into finalized orders.
Utilize Microsoft Office and internal database systems to prepare proposals and documentation.
Menu Planning & Coordination:
Collaborate with chefs and clients to develop customized menus.
Ensure dietary restrictions and event-specific requirements are accurately captured and communicated.
Event Coordination & Communication:
Communicate client needs to staffing agencies, suppliers, operations teams, and culinary staff.
Coordinate rentals, décor, staffing, and third-party services.
Ensure all event details are completed in advance of production meetings (menus submitted by Friday at 10am).
On-Site Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide on-site supervision for assigned events.
Lead or direct event staff to ensure smooth execution of all event elements.
Act as the main point of contact for clients, venues, and vendors during events.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in real time to ensure client satisfaction.
SCREENING QUESTIONS
Are you legally eligible to work in Canada?
Are you able to reliably commute to York, ON or relocate prior to starting?
Do you have a minimum of 2 years of catering or event sales experience?
Do you hold a valid Class G License?
Do you hold Smart Serve and/or Food Handler certifications?
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS
2–3 years of experience in catering, event management, or hospitality sales with a recognized professional organization preferred.
Experience in catering sales strongly preferred.
Valid Smart Serve Certification
Valid Food Handler Certification strongly preferred.
Valid Class G License.
Previous management and/or event experience is an asset.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Comfortable overseeing teams, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring adherence to procedures.
Physically capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Proven ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

Organization: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable working within database systems.
Client Focus: Intuitive and responsive to client needs, with strong relationship management skills.
Leadership: Confident leading teams and directing on-site event execution.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
In-office role based in York, ON.
Travel required to event locations.
Fast-paced event and hospitality environment.
POSITION SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary: From $55,000 per year
