Summery:
The CAD Manager is responsible for leading the CAD, CAM, and Order Entry functions which support the precision manufacturing facilities, Overlanders Manufacturing and Hansen Industries. This role ensures that new customer orders are accurately entered, CAD Modeled, reviewed, CNC programmed, and released into documentation to a production‑ready package with a strong focus on manufacturability, accuracy, and speed. Working with customers directly every day is an integral part of this role. This hands-on role, equally combining time in the office and getting your hand dirty in the shop, is critical to driving customer confidence across Operations, Sales, Quality, by ensuring cross-site standardization to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely delivery. The position oversees growing technical team in a face-paced dynamic work environment which supports strategic initiatives including process innovation, automation, digital transformation, and capacity expansion.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop CAD/CAM and Order Entry Teams
- Set clear priorities based on customer demand, production capacity, and business objectives
- Plan and manage projects to budget, schedule, and quality targets
- Establish accountability, cross‑training, and skill development within the teams
- Foster strong cross functional communication partnerships across all departments of both companies
- Working with customers daily giving product and design for manufacture feedback
- Oversee the Order Entry Team responsible for entering new POs into the ERP system
- Improve the order‑entry triage and prioritization process building a deep understanding of ERP
- Drive standardization and digitization of order‑entry workflows to improve speed, accuracy, and visibility
- Oversee, create and maintain 2D/3D CAD models and full assemblies.
- Ensure designs reflect design‑for‑manufacturing and design‑for‑assembly
- Review and approve drawings, models, routings, and BOMs for completeness and accuracy
- Develop and maintain CAD standards walking the floor to see how drawings translate into real work
- Oversee all CNC programming and create programs understanding how all equipment works
- Ensure programs optimize material utilization, machine efficiency, and repeatability
- Validate programs with operators, welders and assembler troubleshooting issues, reduce reprogramming and scrap
- Ensure CAD packages fully support downstream assembly requirements
- Support standard builds, prototype, first‑article runs, and new product introductions on the shop floor
- Feed lessons learned from production and assembly into CAD standards and processes
- Improve documentation processes including ECNs, travelers, routings, and revision control
- Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements, automation, and KPIs.
- Drive continuous process improvements, lean initiatives, and cost reduction
- Supports automation, digital transformation, and capacity expansion
Employment Details:
- Full Time: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (40 hours per week).
- Salary Range $80,000 - $115,000 (Based on experience and skills).
Work Location & Flexibility:
You will be working at both Overlanders Manufacturing (Abbotsford, BC) and Hansen Industries (Richmond, BC) as needed. Your work location may vary depending on operational requirements, and you may be scheduled at either site.
Minimum Qualification:
- 10+ years of experience within a CNC sheet‑metal and machine shop manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of experience leading or mentoring technical teams with strong communication and organization
- Strong understanding of punching, laser cutting, bending, machining, welding, assembly, and finishing
- Proficient in CAD/CAM, CNC programming, SolidWorks, ERP, Sigmanest, Radan Radbend, NC Express
- Ability to interpret and create drawings, programs, assemblies
- Experience overseeing or supporting order entry into ERP systems
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
