Join our team at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo and help create positive experiences for visitors of all ages The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is seeking seasonal part-time Guest Relations Customer Service Representatives whose responsibilities may include executing sales transactions, crowd and line management, access control, Concierge desk duties and assisting with basic duties in the call center during high volume periods.
Customer Service Representatives may rotate through specific indoor/outdoor workstations as needed throughout the days operations.

Contract:
- Start Date: April 2026
- End Date: September 2026
What you will do:
- Greet and engage guests at workstations located throughout the zoo; provide assistance with directions, questions and necessary messaging
- Be comfortable with fast paced environment with constant change to adapt to business needs; ability to multi-task on high attendance days
- Be able to learn on the job and retain extensive product knowledge to describe, upsell and process all sales transactions for day admissions, memberships, Sunday brunch and special events; with a focus on meeting/exceeding monthly sales targets
- Public speaking to execute line management - Provide Calgary Zoo information and messaging to guests as they arrive using a voice amplifier
- Operate a cash/computer, POS system, access control scanners
- Assist guests with the paid parking system on Alberta Plaza
- Load and troubleshoot automated kiosks; provide assistance at the kiosks
- Provide line management on Alberta Plaza, in the tunnel and at the access control point using a voice amplifier; ensuring guests comply with zoo policies; have ability to pivot and embrace unexpected change to business operations
- Assist with directing vehicle traffic in parking areas during peak periods including spring/summer arrivals and departures of school buses
- Daily Set up / take down of signage, stanchions, barricades and scanning desks; and other opening/closing duties as required
- Ensure work area is clean, tidy and sanitized including all desk equipment, counter tops, staff kitchen, bases of stanchions, signage and all other high touch zones
- Compliance with the Zoo's health and safety program
- Other duties as required
What you will bring:
- At least 6 months cash handling and POS experience with ability to reconcile and balance at the end of each shift
- Must be confident working alone and in a team environment; have ability to multi-task in high paced environment
- Great customer service skills; able to navigate through difficult situations; some public speaking using voice amplifiers
- Computer knowledge
- Responsible, reliable & mature; prompt and invested in seasonal work
- Knowledge of English, verbal & written
Working Conditions:
- Working indoors and outdoors
- Prolonged standing and walking throughout every shift
- Schedule includes Weekdays, Weekends, early morning & evening hours; flexibility is required for short notice call-offs and call-ins
- Some light lifting; set up and take down of signage, stanchions, barricades, scanning desks
- Direct and constant interaction with Zoo visitors
- Must be flexible, reliable, invested in seasonal work
The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is an outdoor facility and all staff working at the zoo must be comfortable working in a large variety of outdoor conditions. The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo follows the advice of Environment Canada when responding to temperature and air quality issues.
