What you'll get to do

The Project Manager is a professional role within Information Technology Services that supports BC Assessment by leading small to medium-scale projects from initiation through completion. Reporting to the Manager, ITS Programs you will guide staff through project management best practices, provide structure to project planning and reporting, and support the continuous improvement of project management processes and tools.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of ITS projects, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and standards

  • Facilitate project planning sessions to define goals, scope, deliverables, timelines, communication plans, and performance measures

  • Develop project charters, implementation plans, issue papers, and briefing materials to support decision-making

  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards

  • Monitor project progress, identify issues, and take or recommend corrective action as needed

  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and provide input on funding requests and resource planning

  • Coordinate project teams, provide direction where required, and support effective team performance

  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, customers, and vendors

  • Ensure compliance with project management standards, methodologies, and reporting requirements

  • Lead post-project evaluations and best-practice reviews to improve future project delivery

  • Support the development and maintenance of the project management resource centre, including templates, tools, standards, and guides

  • Champion innovative, agile, and effective project management practices across the organization

This position is included in the bargaining unit. 

  • Location: Victoria, BC

  • Compensation: $74, $87,417.75

  • Competition Close Date:  Sunday, March 8th @ 11:59PM
     

*The compensation range above is based on the salary schedule outlined in the CUPE 1767 Collective Agreement. Successful candidates typically start at the minimum of the range (Step 1), with the opportunity to receive an increment after 12 months of service.

What you bring to the team
Education:

  • Completion of a degree in computer science, business administration project management or related field.

Experience:

  • Experience managing project teams and working with diverse stakeholders.

  • Experience in the development of business cases and/or concept cases (e.g., feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis, options papers).

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Project Management Certification (e.g., AGILE Scrum Master, PMP, PRINCE2) or equivalent or advanced project management training.

  • Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.

  • Experience providing project management and coordination services for assigned projects.

  • Experience working effectively with multiple projects and assignments.

  • Experience preparing briefing notes, policy proposals and issue papers.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
