Interior Design Manager
to join its team.

This role is remote, but the Interior Design Manager must reside in California or Washington. This role serves as the firm’s subject matter expert for office interior design and workplace experience, leading all interior design initiatives for new and existing Modern Family Law (MFL) offices. The Interior Design Manager partners closely with Business Operations, Facilities, IT, Marketing, and People & Culture to ensure each space supports productivity, brand consistency, and a high-quality employee and client experience. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Design & Workplace Leadership Serve as MFL’s subject matter expert for office interior design and workplace experience. Establish, document, and maintain firm-wide design guidelines, finish standards, furniture specifications, and workplace experience principles. Ensure all office environments reflect MFL’s brand, values, and commitment to both employee and client experience. Partner with Marketing and People & Culture to ensure brand, culture, and workplace design are fully aligned. Office & Project Design Management Lead interior design for new office openings, relocations, expansions, and remodels. Translate functional requirements, headcount projections, and client flow into space plans and layouts. Develop design concepts, furniture plans, and finish palettes that balance aesthetics, durability, budget, and functionality. Review and approve final layouts, furniture selections, and installation plans. Program & Budget Management Develop and manage project plans, budgets, timelines, and scopes for all office design initiatives. Track spending against budgets and proactively identify cost, timing, or scope risks. Create standardized processes for forecasting, approvals, and project closeout. Vendor, Purchasing & Installation Management Identify, source, evaluate, and manage furniture dealers, contractors, installers, and design vendors. Negotiate pricing, service terms, and delivery timelines. Lead all purchasing related to furniture, fixtures, décor, signage, and workplace design elements. Oversee delivery, installation, punch lists, and issue resolution to ensure offices are ready for use. Cross-Functional Partnership Partner with Facilities, IT, Operations, Marketing, and People & Culture to ensure design integrates seamlessly with technology, branding, accessibility, and operational needs. Coordinate office readiness for attorney and staff onboarding, client service, and compliance requirements. Growth, Moves & Workplace Experience Support office moves, openings, and expansions tied to firm growth initiatives. Continuously evaluate and improve workplace experience, including comfort, functionality, and visual consistency. Make recommendations for upgrades, refreshes, and improvements over time. Travel & On-Site Support Travel up to 25% domestically to support office openings, renovations, installations, and major projects. Provide on-site leadership during key project milestones when required. Operations Support Assist in the day-to-day operations of existing company facilities as needed. Coordinate maintenance of existing company facilities as needed. Work closely with the Facilities and Operations Manager and other Business Operations staff in executing the firm’s expansion and real estate strategy. Requirements Position Requirements: As our culture is remote-first, all employees are expected to have the capability to work from home with a reliable internet connection and to set up a workstation that supports productive work during normal business hours. Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Design, or related field (or equivalent professional experience). 3+ years of experience in interior design, workplace design, facilities design, or related environment. Experience managing multiple projects, budgets, and vendors simultaneously. Strong working knowledge of space planning, furniture systems, finishes, and workplace design best practices. High-level knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe products, and Zoom conferencing technology. Skills and Competencies: Ability to communicate professionally and interact effectively with all levels of personnel, including management staff and support staff. Ability to be a proactive self-starter who understands the details within a much larger context. Demonstrated attention to detail, reliability, and ability to learn new technology quickly. Excellent client service skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in an organized manner and under minimal supervision. Flexibility and ability to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and operational needs. Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk while using a computer. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing via phone, text, and email. Ability to stand, sit, bend, and lift items exceeding 10 lbs. as required for office setup and installations. Mandatory Notices for Applicants: ADA Compliance:

Salary Range:
$100,000-$135,000
(for California & Washington)

This range is a reasonably reliable estimate of the base salary that this individual is expected to receive.
Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, HSA/FSA options, short-term and long-term disability, dental and vision care, life insurance, 401(k), vacation, sick time, and access to an employee assistance program.
