Our growing logistics company in Durham, North Carolina is seeking a skilled Shipping & Receiving Associate to manage the inflow and outflow of goods. This role is central to our warehouse operations, ensuring that all incoming shipments are accurately received and processed, and that outgoing shipments are prepared correctly and efficiently. You will be responsible for inspecting goods, verifying documentation, and coordinating with carriers. A strong understanding of warehouse management systems and inventory control is beneficial. Safety is our top priority; therefore, strict adherence to all safety protocols and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory. This position involves significant physical activity, including lifting and moving materials, so physical stamina and the ability to work safely are crucial. You will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our inventory and ensuring timely order fulfillment. We are looking for individuals who are proactive, detail-oriented, and possess excellent organizational skills. Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments for damage and accuracy.
- Verify received goods against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Enter receiving data into the warehouse management system.
- Process outgoing shipments, including picking, packing, and staging.
- Prepare shipping documentation, such as bills of lading.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pick-ups and deliveries.
- Maintain an organized and safe shipping and receiving area.
- Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) as required, following safety guidelines.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and participate in cycle counts.
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
- Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic computer skills.
- Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain principles.
- Ability to perform frequent lifting up to 60 lbs and operate warehouse machinery safely.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and the importance of PPE.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
