Data and digital in healthcare refers to using information, technology, and advanced analytics—such as electronic medical records, big data, and AI—to improve patient care and enable innovations like precision medicine. Our Information Management Strategy and Policy Branch leads provincial data strategy and policy, shaping new approaches that enhance citizens' healthcare experiences and drive system-wide innovation.
About the job
You will lead teams and provide expertise in the analysis, conceptualization and formulation of health system data strategy, policy, and programs, including leading health system collaborations and partnership building.
In this role you will:
• Lead the development of large-scale policy, programs and initiatives from initial concept and stakeholder consultation through to implementation.
• Seek out and effectively analyze information to understand key business issues and to identify potential solutions.
• Manage stakeholder relationships and can work collaboratively to resolve issues, negotiate changes and shifts in priorities.
• Support change by seeking out new ideas, developing innovations, conducting risk assessments and creating strategic solutions.
• Respond to issues and provide reports and recommendations and you can create, lead and present briefings on complex issues to senior executives and decision-makers.
What you bring to the team
Policy Development and Research Skills
You have:
• Expertise in policy and research methods to support development, implementation, and evaluation of health data and digital strategies.
• Ability to apply tools and techniques for analyzing legislation, regulations, and standards.
• Ability to develop policy frameworks, options, and recommendations.
• Analytical skills to assess qualitative and quantitative evidence, identify and evaluate policy drivers and options, and mitigate risks.
• Ability to synthesize information into insights that support evidence based policy.
Strategic Thinking Skills
You have:
• Ability to provide strategic policy advice aligned with ministry and government objectives while incorporating broad social, economic, and political trends that influence the health system.
• Ability to navigate complex political environments and anticipate stakeholder impacts.
• Knowledge of decision-making processes and governance structures.
• Ability to connect long-term goals to day-to-day work.
Project Management Skills
You have:
• Proficiency in project management methodologies within cross functional teams to lead and deliver policy initiatives.
• Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to facilitate team-based projects and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
Communication and Stakeholder Management Skills
You have:
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills for preparing reports, briefing notes, and Cabinet submissions.
• Strong presentation skills to convey complex policy advice to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Ability to build strong, trusted relationships with internal and external partners.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships through consultation, persuasion, and diplomacy.
