Position Summary
Under the general direction of the VP of Human Resources, the Payroll Manager monitors, controls, and audits all payroll transactions at the Hamilton Arena and FirstOntario Concert Hall. This role ensures the efficient and effective operations of the organization's payroll function at Hamilton Arena and FirstOntario Concert Hall which includes exempt, non-exempt, and union employees.
Compliance with all regulatory agencies and adherence to OVG's accounting and Human Resources policies is critical. The Payroll Manager will provide support and maintain a high level of customer service to all employees of the company.
The purpose of this temporary contract is to provide support to payroll management during a statutory leave of absence. It is intended that this temporary position will cease when the individual on a statutory leave of absence returns to work. It is expected that this temporary position will be for a maximum term of 18 months, although the Company may end the term on an earlier date on appropriate notice
This is a temporary role that will start March 16, 2026 and will end on November 23, 2026
This role pays an annual salary of $70,000-$90,000 CAD
This position will remain open until May 22, 2026.
About The Venue
TD Coliseum is a dynamic, multi-purpose live entertainment venue that hosts concerts, sporting events, family shows, and community programming. As we grow, we are seeking a driven, experienced, and proactive Interrum Payroll Manager to provide coverage for the term of 8 months, with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all company payroll including union and non-union employees
Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and territorial payroll regulations, including income tax, deductions, and benefits
Act as a payroll liaison between Corporate Payroll and Hamilton
Collaborate with HR and finance departments to resolve payroll-related issues, discrepancies, and queries
Reviews payroll registers for assigned locations to ensure that all time entry data has been prepared for processing
Receives and enters adjustments to on-cycle payroll process for assigned locations and department
Assist with uploading of files for new hires and employee changes
Maintains the accuracy and integrity of the payroll system by carefully reviewing all entries made and remaining aware of their impact on the payroll process
Maintain confidentiality regarding associates' personal information and payroll data
Assist in evaluation of ADP Payroll System to determine changes necessary for better process
Qualifications
3-5 years minimum experience in a fast pasted payroll environment
Experience with multiple payroll schedules
Experience with OMERS and pension plans preferred
Experience with collective bargaining units, or union payroll preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources or other related field
Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) Designation preferred
Must be detail-oriented with strong leadership and ability to meet deadlines
Thorough knowledge & understanding of ADP Workforce Now or similar ADP programs
Proficient in Windows environment with strong Excel skills
Capable of working with all levels of management
