POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to provide support to the organization on payroll and related HR matters. The ideal candidate has a keen desire to continually learn and develop, an innate understanding of technology, a detail orientation and a desire to contribute to a team environment. This is a fast-paced position requiring processing of weekly payroll for several payroll groups.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Process full-cycle payroll weekly for salaried and hourly employees across multiple divisions
Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment standards, CRA requirements, and other statutory regulations
Calculate and process overtime, bonuses, commissions, allowances, and taxable benefits
Administer and reconcile statutory deductions including CPP, EI, income tax, and provincial payroll taxes
Process Records of Employment (ROEs) and respond to Service Canada inquiries
Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy within Viewpoint Vista
Processing payroll in the Viewpoint Vista
Manage benefit deductions, pension contributions, and group RRSP remittances
Reconcile payroll accounts to the general ledger and prepare payroll journal entries
Prepare and reconcile year-end reporting including T4s, T4As, RL-1s (if applicable), and other required filings
Coordinate remittances for source deductions and other payroll liabilities
Support payroll audits and respond to internal and external audit requests
Provide timely and professional support to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries
Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information at all times
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification
Minimum 5 and maximum 8 years payroll experience post designation
Strong proficiency and knowledge of Viewpoint Vista is required
Experience in the heavy construction industry focused on project-based work
High volume industrial construction weekly payroll run experience
Working knowledge of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and BC employment legislation an asset
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365; proficient Excel skills
